Review:

RoofSwap is a brand new agency adding more listings every day. How can they do that? They have reached agreements with several existing agencies to create a more consolidated approach to home exchanging. Their mission is to help grow home exchange from a niche market to a viable travel method. RoofSwap was launched on November 1 and is very much a work in progress. With this unique and uncharted move into consolidation, we expect some bumps along the road and therefore anticipate updating this review frequently. We have also been informed that some features will be introduced in phases. Usually we do not review an agency until it has been in business long enough to build a small membership and work the kinks out. We took exception with RoofSwap because we know the staff understands the industry.

RoofSwap has committed to outstanding customer service with a team of experienced home exchangers to help both existing and potential members. The listings are clearly displayed using our favorite tab based layout with such useful tools as a calendar and locator map. There is a saved favorites option.

We find it cumbersome to use the site to find a swap partner because the search options are only available to the state or country level. However, one can sort by city name by clicking on the name of the city or by writing it in.

Resources include a Forum with an advice column moderated by Nicole Frank, who writes a well-known home exchange blog, many useful tips and access to home exchanger insurance. Although at present there is no indication of age of listing, we have been assured that a last updated feature will be added in the near future. That's great news

While listing a home is free, in order to contact other members there is a $74.99 fee. Although this cost is visible in the help section of the site, it would be helpful if there were a payment explanation on the home page. RoofSwap.com donates 10% of profits to Habitat for Humanity.
